The NEST Food Pantry

Description

The NEST Food Pantry

Nearly 36% of college students suffer from food insecurity annually. Monmouth is not immune to this problem with many students struggling to pay for meals after incurring tuition and housing expenses. The Student Government Association (SGA) started an on-campus food pantry, The NEST, to help support food-insecure Hawks. The NEST provides free, accessible resources to students who need them—including food, toiletries, and other essential items.

But The NEST is about more than what’s on the shelves. It is a safe, judgment-free space where students can walk through the door without having to explain themselves or feel embarrassed for needing help.

When students needed The NEST to be there for them, Monmouth’s Student Government stepped in. The SGA has:

  • Extended The NEST’s hours to make resources more accessible to students with busy class and work schedules
  • Collected more than 500 pounds of food to help keep the food pantry stocked
  • Partnered with campus offices and organizations to expand support for The NEST
  • Collaborated on multiple food drives to ensure students have access to necessities when they need them most
  • ...and more!

Support The NEST with a gift today to help keep its shelves stocked and ensure Monmouth students have access to the resources they need. Every gift helps create a stronger, more supportive campus community where every Hawk can thrive.
