Make an impact before you graduate by making a gift of $20.19 to student scholarship. Participate and receive your philanthropy cord to wear at commencement. Class of 2019 Giving Committee <strong>Be the Tradition</strong>
The Class of 2019 Giving Campaign exists to educate new graduates on Monmouth's vital need to raise private support, while encouraging graduates to begin their participation as donors to the Monmouth University Scholarship Fund, which makes Monmouth a stronger, more competitive university. Although the Class of 2019 Giving Campaign promotes a donation amount of $20.19, gifts of any size are celebrated as a part of the Alumni Association’s matching gift commitment of $2,019. Monmouth University President and the Alumni Association will celebrate the Class of 2019 Giving Campaign at the president's reception during senior week. Matching gifts will be presented throughout the campaign as a tradition to honor the graduating students’ collective efforts to go above their class participation goal.
<strong>Philanthropy Cords </strong>
Graduates who have made a gift of $20.19 will receive a Philanthropy Cord in recognition of their support. The Philanthropy Cord will be worn during Monmouth’s commencement ceremony, symbolizing philanthropic pride and the reciprocal commitment between Monmouth graduates and the greater alumni association.

Support our student-athletes with a gift of $20 or more by November 29 at 11:59PM EST and receive your 2022 Monmouth University Giving Tuesday Ornament! <p><span>[[Amount Raised]]</span> raised from <span>[[Gifts Received]]</span> gifts</p> Office of Annual Giving On #GivingTuesday, millions of people around the world support the organizations they care about most. Monmouth University students need your support too. If you care about helping our students succeed, please consider making your gift today.
<strong>The 2022 Monmouth University Giving Tuesday Ornament celebrates a new era in Monmouth Athletics.</strong> This fall our student-athletes began competing in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA), one of the top mid-major athletic conferences in the nation. The move to the CAA increases our athletic competition, broadens our recruiting footprint along the east coast, and burnishes the University’s brand by enabling regular competition with some of the most reputable institutions in the nation. Your #GivingTuesday contribution will support the Athletic Director's Excellence Fund, and directly impact our success.
<strong>About the Athletic Director's Excellence Fund: </strong>The Athletics Director's Excellence Fund <strong>supports department-wide initiatives allowing each of our student-athletes to receive enhanced support</strong>. When you make a gift to this fund, you help maintain equipment that monitors student-athlete performance, deliver career networking and personal development events, invest in high quality television broadcasts staffed primarily by Monmouth students, and allow student-athletes the resources to find athletic and academic success.
<strong>When you use this page to make a gift of $20 or more by 11:59pm EST on Tuesday, November 29, we will send you the 2022 Monmouth University Giving Tuesday Ornament as a sign of our appreciation </strong>(one ornament per gift - while supplies last).
Don't wait to make your impact!
<strong>Support our #GivingTuesday campaign today.</strong>
Every gift matters to our students.
<em>Eligible gifts of $20 or more are made exclusively through this crowdfunding project page to the Athletic Director's Excellence Fund between 11/1/22 and 11/28/22. Ornament offer does not apply to previous contributions. </em>
<em>In compliance with IRS regulations, your gift is tax-deductible to the extent that payment exceeds the fair market value of each Monmouth University Giving Tuesday Ornament. The tax-deductible portion will benefit the Athletic Director's Excellence Fund.</em>

Professional Counseling Scholarship Fund

Your gift can help establish an annual scholarship to support graduate students in the Department of Professional Counseling this fall. Professional Counseling Dept <strong>We need your help to raise $1,500 to fund annual scholarships that support the academic pursuits of graduate students in the Department of Professional Counseling. By meeting our goal, we can offer $1,000 scholarships to one or more recipients in the 2020-2021 academic year.</strong>
The Department of Professional Counseling, in collaboration with their active alumni organization Counseling Alumni Connection (CAC), aims to fund a scholarship for students through an array of targeted initiatives. These include online campaigns and providing information and opportunities to donate at the many professional development events facilitated by the department and CAC. The goal is to support academic pursuits for students currently enrolled in Professional Counseling degree programs, as well as for future students with the same zeal for helping others through counseling.
Our students are so passionate about their work, and they need your support. But don't take our word for it.
<strong>Two of our current Hawks wanted to share their personal Monmouth stories with all of you.</strong>
<em>"I want to do more to help people."</em>
<strong>Caitlyn Bahrenburg</strong>
I found my way back to Monmouth University after graduating as a Hawk in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Communication. I spent the majority of my time after graduating working as a journalist and later moved into public relations. While I loved journalism and PR, I found myself wanting to do more to help people. I decided I would go back to school to do just that. Monmouth University’s graduate Clinical Mental Health Counseling program was the only program I applied to because I knew if I were to go back to school, I only wanted to be at Monmouth. I am currently in my third semester and have fallen in love with the work we do here at the graduate center. Earning my master’s degree in counseling is one of the most introspective, beautifully challenging, and transformative experiences of my life. I am constantly inspired by my professors and classmates; not a day goes by that I am not reminded why I am so passionate about this work. I am proud to be receiving my training as a counselor here at Monmouth University and am eager to employ everything I have learned as a licensed professional counselor.
<em>"I could not picture myself anywhere else." </em><em> </em>
<strong>Shelby Tortorello</strong>
My journey towards the field of counseling began in middle school when I first picked up a book about child development. I recall being filled with awe at the complexity of the human brain, while also coming to the realization that if I chose to, I could spend my life helping those who are hurting. As I progressed in my studies, I knew that obtaining a master’s degree would be a key component in realizing my dream of becoming a counselor, and sought to find the best program for me. Since enrolling in Monmouth’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, I have seen myself grow both personally and professionally. Monmouth has provided me with a supportive environment to cultivate my professional identity. I have fostered relationships with peers who have similar passions, allowing us to fuel each other as we pursue our educational goals. My professors have also been an integral part of my experience, as they have pushed me outside of my comfort zone while providing me with opportunities to progress in the field. The road to becoming a professional counselor is a vulnerable and challenging process, and I could not picture myself on this journey anywhere other than Monmouth University.

The Recreational Tennis Club was just established this year and is continuing to grow and evolve. We need your support to take our team to the next level. With the help of family, friends, and alumni, we can access necessary equipment, reserve indoor court space, and plan events to benefit our team now, and in the years to come!

Your gift will play a crucial role in sustaining our club's activities. These contributions will go towards covering indoor court reservation fees, purchasing essential tennis equipment such as additional rackets, balls, overgrips, and hoppers, as well as funding tennis events, now and in the future.
Our primary objective this semester is to ensure that our club can continue to provide opportunities for indoor tennis play, especially during the winter months. In Fall 2019, we revived the Track & Field and Cross Country Club to offer an opportunity for sports enthusiasts not on the varsity team at Monmouth University. Over the years, our club has expanded and seeks to increase its competitive involvement and travel. As we continue to grow, our goal is to provide an outlet to those on campus who want to remain active and enjoy the sport they love while making new connections with their peers. We need your support to take our team to the next level. With the help of family, friends, and alumni, we can access what we need to benefit our team now, and in the years to come!
<strong>How will your gift make an impact?</strong>
We are a growing club, and your gift will help us reach our goals now and in the future. One of our immediate priorities is purchasing uniforms for our team members, which will allow them to represent Monmouth University with pride at events. Your contribution will also assist in covering the team's travel costs. While last year's indoor meets at the OceanFirst Bank Center helped with some funding, it falls short of covering all the necessary expenses for a positive club experience for our students.

Help us re-institute weekly networking luncheons with Doc, providing chapter members with access to academic, professional, and personal advice. Sigma Pi Fraternity Sigma Pi brothers support the Monmouth community at "Trunk-or-Treat" 2019
<strong>Our brothers need your support!</strong>
For nearly 30 years, the Delta-Beta Chapter of Sigma Pi Fraternity enjoyed a weekly luncheon with its Faculty Advisor and brother Dr. Joseph B. Mosca. Affectionately known as "Doc," Dr. Mosca met with generations of Delta-Beta brothers at the Dining Hall to talk about scholarship, university life, and to give the chapter members academic, professional, and personal advice.
After a brief hiatus and with your support, Delta-Beta Chapter is bringing back <strong>Lunch with Doc</strong>!
<strong>How will your gift make an impact?</strong>
A donation today helps underwrite the cost of weekly networking lunches for members of Sigma Pi Fraternity, now and in the future. No matter the size, your financial contribution can help make it possible for all of our brothers to participate in this unique opportunity.
In addition, a Delta-Beta Chapter alumnus has volunteered to match the first $1,000 in gifts made to this campaign. Once we reach $1,000 in total gifts, this alumnus will donate another $1,000, which effectively doubles the impact of your donation!

Men’s Club Soccer is a student-run organization that provides competitive opportunities for students who want to continue playing the sport they love. Operating similarly to a travel team, the club competes in home and away matches against other universities within its league. Managed entirely by students, the team fosters leadership, teamwork, and school pride while allowing members to maintain their passion for soccer.
<strong>How will your gift make an impact?</strong>
Your gift can significantly enhance the experiences of students involved with Men’s Club Soccer at Monmouth University. Donations will directly support essential team expenses, including league registration fees, uniforms, equipment, and game referees. Because the team does not receive funding from Athletics or Student Government, these contributions are critical to sustaining the program and ensuring students can compete throughout the season. Your gift will help allow us to purchase these essentials for gameplay:<ul><li>A gift of $20 will allow us to buy an air pump</li><li>A gift of $25 will allow us to buy cones</li><li>A gift of $40 will allow us to buy a soccer ball</li><li>A gift of $100 or more will reduce the cost of referees</li></ul>
Your gift, of any amount, will make a difference. With your support, Men’s Club Soccer can continue to provide meaningful athletic opportunities for students and represent Monmouth with pride.

The purpose of the Women’s Softball Club is to promote interest, understanding, and appeal for the game of softball among students; to enrich and evolve the experience of Monmouth University students within recreational sports and co-curricular activities; to teach and enhance skills within sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership, along with physical skills relevant to the sport of softball.

Players pay dues to personally cover the expenses that come with playing the sport, but for some, the costs are prohibitively high. We want to make Club Softball accessible to all who want to play, regardless of personal financial circumstances, but we need your help. Your gift will help us cover expenses such as umpires, EMTs, transportation, practice equipment, and uniforms. Your support will directly impact the athletes, helping to reduce individual monetary obligations and making the dream of playing college softball a reality for Monmouth students—now and in the future.

Support the students in Monmouth's Wrestling Club and help us build a strong team for men and women. Club Sports <strong>Please help support the Monmouth University Wrestling Club! </strong>
The Monmouth University Wrestling Club can reach new heights with your help! During the 2023-2024 season, the wrestling team made a lasting impression on a tight budget. Not only did they host the first home wrestling match in nearly 50 years in Boylan Gymnasium, but our wrestlers won multiple championships. Team President John Dooley placed first at 125 pounds at the NCWA Mid-East Regional Championship and Luke Petaccia placed second at 174 pounds. Both wrestlers then represented Monmouth University at the NCWA national tournament in Louisiana! After the season ended, Dooley and Petaccia were also named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association's Academic All-American team for their impressive performance in the classroom. Dooley won the campus IFC's Athlete of the Year Award and his fraternity's national Student Athlete of the Year Award. In addition, three of our wrestlers were named to their schools' Dean's List including Olivia Fazio, Nikko Polycandriotis, and Justin Vahdat!
<strong>How will your gift make an impact?</strong>
The 2024-2025 season is shaping up to be a monumental one for Monmouth University's wrestling team. Not only have we partnered with Residential Life to create a new practice room on campus, but there are more than 25 new interested students who want to be part of our growing championship tradition! In addition, we are excited about hosting more home wrestling matches this season at our new home base in Anacon Hall in the Student Center. However, as a club sport, the wrestling team has to fund all of its own expenses. Your donation will help fund the cost of competition travel, new singlets, practice mats, wall mats for the practice room, fees for our coaches and wrestlers to register with the NCWA, mat tape, the purchase of a new competition mat, cleaning supplies for the mats, team apparel, and so much more. Without donor support, the wrestling team's growth and success will be diminished and the hard work of our student athletes will go unsupported.
Please support the Monmouth University wrestling team's continued growth and expansion as we look to continue our tradition of success in the classroom and on the mats!

In 2018, some local wrestlers and coaches along with Monmouth University’s Student Organizations worked together to start a wrestling club. The club was off to a great start with a solid group of wrestlers before shutting down due to the pandemic, but the team picked back up last season and is once again going strong. Coached by NCAA all American Nick Roy, along with a prestigious volunteer coaching staff which includes Rich Famularo, Jake Benner and Mike Verrochi and training out of the legendary Triumph wrestling facility. This year our returning member, John Dooley, will be leading the club as the new President along with Frank Talarico as Vice President. We have a large group of new sign ups, and are very excited to be back on the mat this fall. The goals of our club remain the same - getting in great shape, learning the sport of wrestling, competing in individual and team tournaments.
<strong>How will your gift make an impact?</strong>
Thanks to our supporters, we've had very successful fundraisers the last two years and the team was able to purchase an impressive new mat with the Monmouth University logo, along with apparel for the team. We were also able to pay the membership fee to join the NCWA league. We have more goals this year to continue building a strong local club. Your support is essential since the club has no other means of funding. Your donation will assist our wrestlers now, and in the future, by helping to purchase wrestling apparel, covering the cost of NCWA membership and tournament fees, and helping offset travel expenses during the season.
A contribution of any amount would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for supporting the Monmouth University Wrestling Club!

Over the past 40 years the Jersey Shore has become well known throughout the tri-state area for producing high caliber wrestlers. Forty-four High School Wrestling Teams pack the Jersey Shore with gifted and talented wrestlers, many becoming NJ State Champions and “All Americans”. However, hundreds of local wrestlers leave this abundant breeding ground every year and have to pursue their passion for the sport of wrestling outside of Monmouth or Ocean County. The reason for this exodus is the fact that there is not one university or college in Monmouth or Ocean County that offers an opportunity to join a wrestling team. Needless to say, we strongly feel that this is a missed opportunity and needs to change. In an effort to facilitate such a change, back in 2018, some local wrestlers and coaches along with Monmouth University’s Student Organizations worked together to formulate a program. We are proud to announce that last year, the Monmouth University Wrestling Club was established.
<strong>How will your gift make an impact?</strong>
Our goal is to build a strong team made up of men and women and to bring a long overdo program to this part of New Jersey. Over the next several years we would like to have this program grow, with our wrestlers competing in scheduled dual meets and open tournaments, and ultimately become a successful, competitive wrestling club. Your support can assist our wrestlers now, and in the future, by helping us purchase singlets and equipment for our members, defraying the cost of tournaments, assisting with travel costs, and more.

Support the students in Monmouth's Wrestling Club and help us build a strong team for men and women.
Support the students in Monmouth's Wrestling Club and help us build a strong team for men and women. Club Sports <strong>Invest in the future of Monmouth University Wrestling!</strong>
The Monmouth University wrestling team needs your help to continue elevating its performance. As a club sport, the wrestling team relies on the generosity of its donors in order to operate and excel. Donor support provides critical funding for registration fees, travel costs, practice gear, official match apparel, costs for referees, trainers, and coaches, and so much more.
Our Hawks have been successful on the mat and in the classroom! Last year, the wrestling team finished with a 6 - 6 record, which included the team's first-ever dual meet victory. Academically, our cumulative team GPA is a 3.195 with two of our wrestlers earning a 4.0 GPA last spring! In addition, three of our wrestlers qualified for the national tournament in Louisiana and our team captain John Dooley repeated as conference champion. And two of our wrestlers were awarded Academic All-American honors by the National Wrestling Coaches Association. The ability to pay the costs related to hosting home matches in the Student Center, the cost of traveling to the conference and national tournaments, the end of season banquet to celebrate our wrestlers' individual and team successes–all of these were made possible thanks to donor support. Please help us keep the momentum high for the 2025-2026 season!
<strong>Stretch Goals</strong>
The wrestling team competes in the National Collegiate Wrestling Association's (NCWA) Mideast Conference (MEC) and we typically have two or three wrestlers that qualify for the national NCWA tournament at the end of the season. The MEC includes wrestling clubs from schools like Montclair, Rutgers, Rowan, University of Maryland, Slippery Rock, Temple, West Chester, and more. If we achieve our $15,000 goal, then we will be able to afford competing against away teams in the MEC including travel, lodging, and food costs.
<em>Stretch Goal #1: $20,000 - National Ambition</em>
If we can raise $20,000, then we will have the funds necessary to send a few of our wrestlers and coaches to the national NCWA tournament. These costs include airfare, lodging, food, local travel costs, and registration fees for the tournament.
<em>Stretch Goal #2: $25,000 - Upgraded Apparel</em>
If we can raise $25,000, then we will have the funds to provide alternate, tournament singlets for the wrestlers. In addition, we will be able to provide official warm-up suits for each wrestler and two sets of official practice shirts and shorts for the team. We will also be able to provide Monmouth University-branded head gear to the wrestlers that need it.
<em>Stretch Goal #3: $30,000 - Wall Mats</em>
If we can raise $30,000, then we will have the funds necessary to continue making our wrestling room in the basement of Cedar Hall safe for our wrestlers. Today, the room is outfitted with an old elementary school wrestling mat that we cut up and used for floor and wall mats. We received a grant from the SGA to begin buying and installing official wall mats for the wrestling room, but we need to raise more funds to fully outfit the room with wall mats. These mats will not only help protect our wrestlers, they will also give the room a more professional look so that our team can practice in an environment that is safe, but also inspires a competitive spirit.
<em>Stretch Goal #4: $40,000 - Wrestling Room Improvements</em>
If we can raise $40,000, then we can accelerate our plans to invest in upgrading the Cedar Hall basement. Some of these plans include removing the drop ceiling and painting the higher ceiling black, installing white lights to brighten up the room, painting the walls above the wall mats, investing in perpetual plaques to recognize our wrestlers' achievements, purchasing dedicated workout equipment so that our team improves both in their technique and conditioning, installing high shelves and custom-built benches, providing an area outside of the wrestling room for the wrestlers to store their backpacks, shoes, and clothes during practice, upgrading the floor mats, and purchasing high quality canvas pictures of our wrestlers competing - and winning!
Upgrading the wrestling room is a multi-year project, so any funds that we raise in excess of $40,000 will help accelerate the upgrades and improvements planned for the space. Thank you for your support!

Professional Counseling Scholarship Fund

You can help establish an annual scholarship to support part- or Full-time graduate students in the Department of Professional Counseling.
You can help establish an annual scholarship to support part- or Full-time graduate students in the Department of Professional Counseling. Lisa M. Himelman, MSEd ‘14 <strong>With your help, this project can fund annual scholarships to support the academic pursuits of graduate students in the Department of Professional Counseling by offering a $1,000 scholarship to one or more recipients in the 2020-2021 academic year.</strong>

Please make a gift to support Saving our Own: Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Program for Law Enforcement. School of Social Work <strong>Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Program for Law Enforcement </strong>
The <a href="https://www.monmouth.edu/school-of-social-work/srf/">SRF Suicide Prevention Research and Training Project</a>, in partnership with New Jersey law enforcement organizations, is conducting a mental health and suicide prevention needs assessment to identify mental health needs, barriers to mental health support, and test possible solutions to meet the mental health needs of New Jersey's law enforcement. With your help, we can develop resources including videos to improve help-seeking of law enforcement personnel in an effort to reduce suicidal behavior.
<strong>How will your support make an impact?</strong>
The estimated number of law enforcement officers who die by suicide outnumbers those who die in the line of duty. A donation to the Suicide Prevention Research and Training Project today will help us to develop critical resources to support those at risk, including tools to prevent law enforcement suicides, to encourage officer resiliency and help-seeking, and to aide families/partners in identifying someone at risk and knowing how to help. No matter the size, your financial contribution can help provide vital resources for members of our law enforcement community and beyond.

Through this immersive program, our students engage in civically responsible projects that benefit underrepresented communities in developing countries. Global Education Office <strong>We're on a mission to make a difference!</strong>
Through the Global Experience Program, Monmouth Students engage in 8-10 day service programs that allow participants to become change agents as they serve people in underrepresented communities in developing countries. Through this immersive program, our students take intentional action to engage in civically responsible projects that benefit international communities, while creating a lifetime of transformation as students Serve, Learn, Change, and Share.
Monmouth Students work through nonprofit organizations that embed in their respective communities. Each community and organization has a fundamental vision of improving standards of living and education. For our students, participation in the program has a profound impact on their perspective, appreciation of others and life, social-responsibility, cross-cultural competency, love, learning, compassion, and empathy.
<strong>How will your gift make an impact?</strong>
When you contribute to our project, you help current and future programs by allowing us to create financial access for Monmouth students who lack necessary funds, implement larger-scale projects for volunteers to engage in, and offer more opportunities to help a wider scope of at-risk communities worldwide.
<strong>What do participants say about the program? </strong>
“No one can do everything, but everyone can do something. One of the biggest life lessons I learned is that you don’t have to do it all, you don’t need to save a country, you don’t need to build a house by yourself, but each brick you lay and each person you talk to and smile at makes a difference. That really came to life on this trip.” – Becca Baier ’12

<strong>Grow with your local community</strong>
The <strong>Virginia A. Cory Community Garden</strong> dedicates 5,000 square feet to growing food to donate to people in need. Currently, the garden is hand-watered with hoses, the most inefficient irrigation method. With an automated drip irrigation system, we can:
<ol>
<li><strong>Optimize</strong> the irrigation and increase the yield</li>
<li><strong>Reduce</strong> freshwater waste</li>
<li><strong>Eliminate</strong> the time-consuming task to hand-water the garden. </li>
</ol>
In short, A drip irrigation system will enable us to produce more food with less water waste, and help more people in need!
<strong>How will your gift make an impact?</strong>

Monmouth relies on alumni donor participation to recruit and retain future Hawks. Your support will increase university rankings and the value of our degree. Monmouth's Alumni Board <strong>Alumni Endowed Scholarship Fund </strong>
With more than 30 percent of students qualifying for need-based, state-funded tuition aid, and more than 40 percent identifying as first-generation college students, the need for financial support from alumni and friends is clear.
Gifts to the Alumni Endowed Scholarship Fund will provide financial assistance to first-year undergraduates with unmet need. Together, let’s make it affordable for the next generation to say “yes” to Monmouth.
<strong>YOUR Participation Matters!</strong>
Approximately 94% of Monmouth's annual operating comes from tuition, room and board. Understanding that alumni donor participation is a key factor in determining university rankings and these statistics impact a student's decision to enroll, alumni support is critical for Monmouth's growth.
As university rankings increase, so does the value of a Monmouth degree. Let's make our degree stronger!

Thank you to our alumni, parents and friends who together exceed our fundraising goal! Check the project updates for information on the installation process! Monmouth Swimming Monmouth swimming has a rich and storied history from its success in the 1960s, 70s and early 80s to the restart of the program in 2015. One constant throughout this time is the Richard E. Steadman Natatorium which has served as the home of the Hawks since 1965. To honor the elite performances by some of the many outstanding swimmers who represented the University, Monmouth athletics is currently raising funds to install a record board in Steadman Natatorium. The board will serve as a tribute to the best athletes in program history while also providing our current student athletes with benchmarks of excellence they can strive for in each event.
