The Monmouth University Wrestling Club can reach new heights with your help! During the 2023-2024 season, the wrestling team made a lasting impression on a tight budget. Not only did they host the first home wrestling match in nearly 50 years in Boylan Gymnasium, but our wrestlers won multiple championships. Team President John Dooley placed first at 125 pounds at the NCWA Mid-East Regional Championship and Luke Petaccia placed second at 174 pounds. Both wrestlers then represented Monmouth University at the NCWA national tournament in Louisiana! After the season ended, Dooley and Petaccia were also named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association's Academic All-American team for their impressive performance in the classroom. Dooley won the campus IFC's Athlete of the Year Award and his fraternity's national Student Athlete of the Year Award. In addition, three of our wrestlers were named to their schools' Dean's List including Olivia Fazio, Nikko Polycandriotis, and Justin Vahdat!
How will your gift make an impact?
The 2024-2025 season is shaping up to be a monumental one for Monmouth University's wrestling team. Not only have we partnered with Residential Life to create a new practice room on campus, but there are more than 25 new interested students who want to be part of our growing championship tradition! In addition, we are excited about hosting more home wrestling matches this season at our new home base in Anacon Hall in the Student Center. However, as a club sport, the wrestling team has to fund all of its own expenses. Your donation will help fund the cost of competition travel, new singlets, practice mats, wall mats for the practice room, fees for our coaches and wrestlers to register with the NCWA, mat tape, the purchase of a new competition mat, cleaning supplies for the mats, team apparel, and so much more. Without donor support, the wrestling team's growth and success will be diminished and the hard work of our student athletes will go unsupported.

About Club Sports at Monmouth University:
The Club Sports Program at Monmouth University provides opportunities for students who desire a more in-depth experience of sports participation than is provided in the Intramural or informal Recreation Program. The goal of the Club Sports Program is to blend the aspects of learning new skills, practicing with club members, and possibly competing with other clubs and universities.
