Please help support the newly established Monmouth University Wrestling Club!
Over the past 40 years the Jersey Shore has become well known throughout the tri-state area for producing high caliber wrestlers. Forty-four High School Wrestling Teams pack the Jersey Shore with gifted and talented wrestlers, many becoming NJ State Champions and “All Americans”. However, hundreds of local wrestlers leave this abundant breeding ground every year and have to pursue their passion for the sport of wrestling outside of Monmouth or Ocean County. The reason for this exodus is the fact that there is not one university or college in Monmouth or Ocean County that offers an opportunity to join a wrestling team. Needless to say, we strongly feel that this is a missed opportunity and needs to change. In an effort to facilitate such a change, back in 2018, some local wrestlers and coaches along with Monmouth University’s Student Organizations worked together to formulate a program.
The Club was off to a strong start with a solid group of wrestlers, before being put on hold by the pandemic last year. Some of these members are returning this year including our new President Eric Brew, and officers Steven Barsoum, Kejsi Bocaj and Matthew Rossetti. We are very excited to be back up and running this fall, with a strong interest from students who are eager to participate. As a student-focused club, our goals range from getting into great shape and learning the sport, to competing in individual and team tournaments.
How will your gift make an impact?
Our goal is to build a strong team made up of men and women and to bring a long overdo program to this part of New Jersey. Your support can assist our wrestlers now, and in the future, by helping us purchase wrestling apparel such as singlets and uniforms, purchasing equipment such as a much-needed new mat at our club facility (Triumph Wrestling) customized with the MU logo, and securing funds to defray the cost of tournament fees and travel expenses during the season.

About Club Sports at Monmouth University:
The Club Sports Program at Monmouth University provides opportunities for students who desire a more in-depth experience of sports participation than is provided in the Intramural or informal Recreation Program. The goal of the Club Sports Program is to blend the aspects of learning new skills, practicing with club members, and possibly competing with other clubs and universities.
