Invest in the future of Monmouth University Wrestling!

The Monmouth University wrestling team needs your help to continue elevating its performance. As a club sport, the wrestling team relies on the generosity of its donors in order to operate and excel. Donor support provides critical funding for registration fees, travel costs, practice gear, official match apparel, costs for referees, trainers, coaches, and so much more.

Over the last year, our Hawks have been successful on the mat and in the classroom. Last year, the wrestling team celebrated wins over some big name wrestling clubs including the clubs from Penn State, the University of Delaware, Temple, Stony Brook, and more. Academically, the team finished the academic year with a 3.337 GPA, more than a tenth of a point higher than the year before. In addition, for the first-time ever, five of our wrestlers qualified for the national tournament in Louisiana with one of our team members being ranked #7 in the country. And our team captain John Dooley took home his third conference championship in a row. Three of our wrestlers were awarded Academic All-American honors by the National Wrestling Coaches Association. The ability to pay the costs related to hosting home matches in the Student Center, the cost of traveling to the conference and national tournaments, the end of season banquet to celebrate our wrestlers' individual and team successes - all of these were made possible thanks to donor support. Please help us keep the momentum high for the 2026-2027 season!

Stretch Goals

The wrestling team competes in the National Collegiate Wrestling Association's (NCWA) Mideast Conference (MEC). The MEC includes wrestling clubs from schools like Montclair, Rutgers, Rowan, University of Maryland, Slippery Rock, Temple, West Chester, and more. If we achieve our $15,000 goal, then we will be able to afford competing against away teams in the MEC including travel, lodging, and food costs.

• Stretch Goal #1: $20,000 - National Ambition
  • If we can raise $20,000, then we will have the funds to provide alternate, tournament singlets for the wrestlers. In addition, we will be able to provide official warm-up suits for each wrestler and two sets of official practice shirts and shorts for the team. We will also be able to provide Monmouth University-branded head gear to the wrestlers that need it.
• Stretch Goal #2: $25,000 - Upgraded Apparel
  • If we can raise $25,000, then we will have the funds necessary to send a few of our wrestlers and coaches to the national NCWA tournament. These costs include airfare, lodging, food, local travel costs, and registration fees for the tournament.
• Stretch Goal #3: $30,000 - Wall Mats Phase II
  • If we can raise $30,000, then we will have the funds necessary to continue making our wrestling room in the basement of Cedar Hall safe for our wrestlers. Thanks to last year's donors, we were able to purchase wall mats for half of the wrestling room. If we hit this stretch goal, then we will have the funds to fully outfit the room with wall mats. These mats will not only help protect our wrestlers, they will also give the room a more professional look so that our team can practice in an environment that is safe, but also inspires a competitive spirit.
• Stretch Goal #4: $40,000 - Wrestling Room Improvements
  • If we can raise $40,000, then we can accelerate our plans to invest in upgrading the Cedar Hall basement. Some of these plans include removing the drop ceiling and painting the higher ceiling black, installing white lights to brighten up the room, painting the walls above the wall mats, investing in perpetual plaques to recognize our wrestlers' achievements, purchasing dedicated workout equipment so that our team improves both in their technique and conditioning, installing high shelves and custom-built benches, providing an area for the wrestlers to store their backpacks, shoes, and clothes during practice, upgrading the floor mats, and purchasing high quality canvas pictures of our wrestlers competing - and winning!

Upgrading the wrestling room is a multi-year project, so any funds that we raise in excess of $40,000 will help accelerate the upgrades and improvements planned for the space. Thank you for your support!
